REMEDIATION
EJC personnel have performed assessments, remedial investigations and
feasibility studies (RI/FS) at both operating and inactive hazardous waste
sites across the United States. Corrective action programs are prepared
in accordance with local, state and federal regulatory requirements.
The process of performing assessments, remedial investigations and feasibility
studies provides the data and methodology necessary for selecting the
most cost-effective cleanup design for sites contaminated with hazardous
materials and waste.
Examples of our applied expertise are:
EJC
personnel designed, installed, and managed the operation of a Dual Phase
Soil Vapor Extraction / Groundwater Pump and Treat System in Southeast
Missouri.
EJC has been responsible for every phase of work at this Southeast Missouri
site where several service stations had operated between 1952 and 1989,
when the property was converted to a retail strip mall. When tenants
and patrons of the strip mall complained of headaches and the strong
smell of gasoline, owners contacted EJC. Investigation identified multiple
plumes of petroleum hydrocarbons. A soil vapor extraction (SVE) pilot
test was conducted and the remediation system was designed based on
data collected. This site has received a Letter of Closure from the
State of Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR).
CEC
has conducted numerous underground storage tank (UST) site investigations
and closures over the past 7 years.
A Fortune 100 company requested assistance in closing two tanks
with combined storage capacity of 110,000 gallons. The tanks were
12 feet in diameter and 60 feet long, necesssitating the use of
special drilling, shoring, dewatering, excavating, and tank removal
procedures.
- Completion of an RI/FS at a multi-PRP Superfund site for a major electronics/microchip
company; included the use of surface geophysics, in-situ soil gas analyses,
a drilling program, groundwater sampling and site diagram analyses.
- EJC personnel designed, installed, and managed the operation of the
first successful demonstration of an innovative multi-phase remedial
technology at a site in Southern California.
- Preparation of feasibility studies that included pilot testing remedial
alternatives, including standard and innovative alternatives, such as
ultraviolet radiation and bioremediation.
- Remediation of Petroleum Hydrocarbon Contamination in Soil and Groundwater
- Reviewed existing plans and designed alternatives for an effective
groundwater barrier to protect a small community from a Superfund site.
- Solvent Plume Delineation
